Irish Solo Play by Pat Kinevane Staged at Rajasthan International Centre.

Rajasthan International Centre hosted a powerful solo theatre performance by acclaimed Irish actor and writer Pat Kinevane, presented by Fishamble: The New Play Company, in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in India and Culture Ireland.

The 75-minute performance, held at Mini Audi 1, brought to Jaipur an evocative contemporary Irish play that follows the life of Luther, a reclusive man from Cork named after his grandmother’s hero, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Through Luther’s inner world and his unusual passion for performing as an Elvis impersonator, the play probes deeply into themes of prejudice, privilege, identity, mental health, and personal resilience.

Premiered in Ireland in 2023, the production went on to be showcased at Dance Base during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it earned a nomination for the Mental Health Foundation Award and was chosen as a Pick of the Fringe, cementing its critical acclaim.

The Jaipur presentation offered audiences an intimate and thought-provoking theatrical experience, highlighting the strength of contemporary Irish storytelling and performance. Audience members responded with appreciation for the play’s emotional depth, nuanced writing, and Kinevane’s compelling stage presence.

The event marks a continued cultural exchange between India and Ireland, bringing internationally celebrated works to Jaipur’s growing arts audience.
